Social anxiety it's like having a secret agent alter ego who's great at blending in but terrible at small talk. Every social gathering becomes a comedy of errors, starting with the classic
"do I handshake, fist bump, or awkwardly wave?"
dilemma. Spoiler alert: I usually end up doing some hybrid that looks like I'm trying to start a new dance craze. Then there's the dreaded small talk—my arch-nemesis. I mean, who came up with the idea that discussing the weather is a great icebreaker? come to think of it it's kinda cringe I'm over here trying not to mention how much I hate Mondays or accidentally bring up my dog's obsession with water in a bucket how it tends to dip its head in and later gets it out and it starts getting all jumpy and exited. And don't get me started on the supermetro line maneuvering, It's a delicate balance of trying to go in front of more than ten people who arrived there earlier without looking at them. Of course, there are the inevitable moments when my brain decides to hit the panic button. Like when I accidentally laugh too loud at a joke that wasn't that funny or forget someone's name seconds after they've introduced themselves(to be honest it's something I need to start working on......being keen when it comes to names). Cue the internal facepalm and the desperate scramble to remember any detail about them that doesn't involve their name. But amidst the sea of awkwardness, there's a silver lining—a quirky sense of humor that keeps me afloat. And let's not forget the unexpected friendships that blossom in the most awkward of moments. Turns out, bonding over mutual social clumsiness is a universal language. Who knew my ability to turn every interaction into a scene from a sitcom would actually make me more relatable? So, here's to embracing the quirks and navigating the minefield of social situations with grace (or at least a sense of humor). Social anxiety may be my constant companion, but it's also a reminder that life's awkward moments are what make the journey hilariously unforgettable. Cheers to stumbling through social gatherings like a pro—awkward dance moves and all.
